At Capitol Hill School, we are proud to participate in Bullying Awareness Week, a dedicated time to address bullying in all its forms and promote a safe and respectful environment for all. This year, our focus is on encouraging students, teachers, and parents to speak up against bullying, recognize when to seek help, and take positive action to prevent bullying within our school community.

Building Awareness and Taking Action

Bullying Awareness Week provides an opportunity for reflection and action. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing the harmful impacts of bullying and equips everyone in our school community with the tools to prevent it. The CBE plays a vital role in this effort, offering resources that help students recognize risks and influence positive change.

We encourage our Capitol Hill School community to explore available resources, including:

For parents concerned about bullying, starting a conversation with your child’s teacher is a critical first step. For additional support, the Bullying Helpline (1-888-456-2323) is available 24/7, with online chat support at alberta.ca/bullying-find-supports.aspx.

Guided by Our Code of Conduct

At Capitol Hill School, our community is built upon shared values of being welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe. Through our "I Can" statements, students are guided to embody these principles in their daily interactions:

  • Welcoming: "I can welcome new people into our classroom with a smile, say kind words, and build positive relationships."
  • Caring: "I can actively listen to others, consider their needs, and demonstrate care for myself, others, and my school."
  • Respectful: "I can embrace the similarities and differences of others, express my needs appropriately, and respect the learning needs of everyone."
  • Safety: "I can describe and apply safety rules, fix small problems on my own, and seek help from trusted adults when needed."

These statements empower students to contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture where everyone feels valued and supported.
