Maegan Giroux visits CHS for Math PL

Today, Capitol Hill School had the incredible opportunity to welcome Maegan Giroux, an expert in the Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) framework, for a powerful day of professional learning. Alongside our teachers, educators from Alex Munro School, Killarney School, and the CBE All Boys Program joined us to deepen our understanding of BTC and how it can transform math learning. Maegan’s insights, practical strategies, and hands-on approach provided valuable tools to enhance student engagement, problem-solving, and critical thinking in mathematics.

BTC serves as the foundation of our School Development Plan and will guide our teaching and learning journey over the next three years. The framework fosters student-centred learning, collaboration, and mathematical reasoning, helping students develop confidence, resilience, and a love for problem-solving. A huge thank you to Mr. K for spearheading this visit and coordinating the participation of other Area 2 schools—his leadership made this day possible! We are incredibly grateful to Maegan Giroux for sharing her time and expertise, making this a truly inspiring and impactful day of learning. For those interested in a deeper dive into BTC, we encourage you to check out Maegan’s podcast, “Think, Thank, Thunk”, where she explores the principles and implementation of BTC in classrooms.

Paul Davis Presentations on Social Media Safety

Capitol Hill School is excited to host social networking safety expert Paul Davis on Thursday, February 6th. Paul will engage students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 with a session in the afternoon focused on the critical topics of online behaviour, privacy, and setting digital boundaries. This is a crucial conversation for young students navigating the complexities of the internet.

Later that evening, at 6:00 PM, there will be a special presentation for parents, sponsored by the Capitol Hill School Council. This parent-only event will offer strategies to help manage and safeguard children's online activities. We urge all parents to attend this informative session to learn more about social media and internet safety. Join us to gain valuable insights into protecting your children in the digital age. We look forward to welcoming you to this important discussion.
