Food Trucks & Families – Happening Next Wednesday!
We’re just a few days away from our Food Trucks & Families event, happening next Wednesday, June 18 from 3:30–5:30 PM on the field behind Capitol Hill School. Organized by our amazing School Council, this event is a chance for families to relax, connect, and celebrate the end of the school year together.
Bring a picnic blanket, some water, and your appetite—there will be a variety of delicious food trucks on site! Every CHS student will also receive $10 worth of tickets, generously provided by School Council, to use at the food trucks. Tickets will be handed out in class on the day of the event.
Please note:
Food trucks will begin arriving and setting up as early as 3:00 PM, so please be extra cautious at dismissal and give them plenty of space. The school building will be accessible for water bottle refills and washroom use, but won’t be open for general access.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there for a fun afternoon!
CHS Student Talent Show – Coming Up June 19
We’re excited to announce that our Student Talent Show will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19! Organized by Ms. Whitehead, this year’s show promises to be a celebration of the incredible creativity and courage of our CHS students.
With over 45 students auditioning earlier this month, narrowing the list down to 20 performance numbers was no easy task. We want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to everyone who auditioned—your bravery, enthusiasm, and talent were truly inspiring. From music to dance, athletics to stand-up comedy, the variety of skills on display was amazing. Whether or not your act made the final lineup, we encourage you to keep practicing and keep performing—you never know what the next opportunity might bring!
For our performers: Please make sure to bring all required items on the day of the show - instruments, sheet music, special clothing, or any other equipment. If your act requires a music track (for example, dance or drumming), please email your MP3 file to Mrs. Whitehead at ciwhitehead@cbe.ab.ca no later than Tuesday, June 17, so everything is ready to go for Thursday’s big event.
We can’t wait to see what our talented CHS students have in store!
Sports & Activity Day – Volunteers Still Needed for June 20
Our "I Am Canadian!" Sports & Activity Day is coming up next Friday, June 20, and we’re still looking for more volunteers to help make the day a success!
Parent volunteers are essential to helping run the activity stations and ensure everything runs smoothly. Each shift is just one hour long - either 9:00–10:00 AM or 10:00–11:00 AM - and includes everything you need to know right at the station. You must have volunteer clearance on file with the office to participate.

We’re also looking to collect a few items we can use for some of the events:
- 2–3 flat sheets or blankets
- 4–6 bath towels
- 4–6 pillowcases or potato sacks
If you have any extras lying around that you’re willing to donate (no need to return them), we’d love to use them! Thank you for supporting this fun end-of-year tradition - we can’t wait to celebrate with our students!
Capitol Hill’s Second Annual Mini-Golf Fundraiser – June 23
Mark your calendars—Capitol Hill School’s second annual Mini-Golf Fundraiser is happening on Monday, June 23, and promises to be a fun-filled day for a great cause! Our Grade 5 students have been hard at work designing and building their own mini-golf holes as the final project in their financial literacy and math unit. They’ve used their skills in budgeting, measuring, and problem-solving to create a one-of-a-kind course that students from across the school will get to enjoy.
Tickets are $2 for 8 plays, and all proceeds from this student-led event will go to support the Calgary Humane Society. Advance ticket sales will take place from June 12–19, with tickets delivered to classrooms on the day of the event. Students will have 30 minutes to play, and anyone who may not be able to pay will still have a chance to participate—because no one misses out on the fun at CHS.
Please note that this is a student-only event during the school day. While we appreciate the enthusiasm and support of our CHS families, this fundraiser is designed for students to enjoy independently. Thanks for cheering them on from afar!
Final June IPPs Coming Home - Please Review & Return Signature Page
Final IPPs for the 2024-25 school year are being sent home this week for students who receive additional support. These documents do not include new goals, but rather provide end-of-year evaluations of progress, along with summary and transition information to support your child’s continued learning.
We kindly ask families to review the IPP carefully and sign the “Final Review” section on the last page to indicate your acknowledgment of the year-end evaluations and summary information. Only this final signature page needs to be returned to the school—you are welcome to keep the rest of the IPP for your own records. Please return the signed page by Wednesday, June 18.
If you have any questions or need clarification about your child’s IPP, please reach out directly to their teacher. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership!
Reminder: Check and Pay Outstanding School Fees
As we near the end of the school year, we kindly ask all families to log in to their MyCBE account and check for any outstanding school fees, including those related to off-site activities and field trips. Unpaid fees directly impact our school’s ability to support students and provide enriching learning opportunities. For system-assigned fees, such as transportation and noon supervision, please note that the CBE may refer unpaid amounts to collection agencies. If you’re experiencing financial difficulties or need to explore payment options, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Gratto at 403-777-6160 - we’re here to help. Thank you for your timely attention to this important matter!
