Our 2025–26 TRC Commitment to ReconciliACTION

At Capitol Hill School, our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation continues to guide our learning, relationships, and actions as a community. As we look ahead to the 2025-26 school year, we’ve chosen to focus our efforts on bringing Indigenous knowledges, languages, and teaching methods into our classrooms in meaningful and respectful ways. This work will include continuing to learn with and from Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and applying that learning through land-based education, storytelling, and cultural teachings. We will also deepen our practice of creating ethical space - where Indigenous and Western perspectives can coexist, be valued, and shape student learning together.

This commitment builds on the learning we’ve already been doing and represents a powerful next step in our shared journey. You can read more about our TRC Commitment to Action here: Truth and Reconciliation Commitment | 2025-26

A Rain-Free Win: Sports & Activity Day 2025

Despite a looming rainstorm in the forecast, the weather held out just long enough for Capitol Hill students to enjoy a fantastic Sports & Activity Day today! With energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of Canadian spirit, students rotated through a variety of fun outdoor stations, showing off their teamwork, sportsmanship, and smiles all morning long.

We wrapped up the celebration with a whole-school assembly and a sweet treat - “Canadian kabobs” delivered right to classrooms! A huge thank you goes out to all of the amazing parent and community volunteers who helped run stations and support our students, and to our dedicated teacher-led Sports & Activity Day Committee for organizing such a memorable day.

Students Shine Bright at CHS Talent Show

Our CHS Talent Show was a fantastic celebration of creativity, courage, and student voice! With 20 acts taking the stage, our performers wowed us with everything from music and dance to comedy and athletic feats. A huge shout-out to all the students who auditioned - your willingness to put yourself out there is something to be proud of. And to the students who performed in front of the whole school: your bravery and talent were truly inspiring. Big thanks to Ms. Whitehead for organizing and hosting such a fun and uplifting event, and to the staff and families who came out to support our students. What a great way to wrap up the year!

Sweet Treats & Community Vibes at Food Trucks & Families!

Wednesday evening’s Food Trucks & Families event was a fantastic way to come together as a school community and enjoy some early summer fun. The sweet treats were definitely a highlight - students (and staff!) were all smiles as they sampled goodies from the food trucks and soaked up the sunshine. A huge thank you to our incredible School Council for organizing the event and for their generous support in providing every student and staff member with $10 in coupons to enjoy at the trucks. It was a great way to celebrate the year and connect with one another outside the classroom!

Final Week of School - Important Dismissal Information

Next week marks the final week of the 2024–25 school year! Please note that Thursday will be the last day of classes for students and it will follow an early dismissal schedule. Students will be dismissed at 12:41 PM on Thursday, so please ensure that arrangements are made for your child to be picked up on time.

Report Cards Available Online Starting June 25

A reminder to families that online report cards for all students (Kindergarten through Grade 12) will be available to view, download, or print through the MyCBE portal starting Wednesday, June 25. Access will remain open until Thursday, July 25, 2025. If you'd like to keep a copy for your records, we recommend downloading or printing the PDF during this window. Report cards will not be accessible in MyCBE after July 25.

Reminder: Return IPP Signature Pages

If you have not yet returned your child’s IPP signature page, please do so as soon as possible. These documents are important for completing student records and must be digitized and uploaded to each student’s digital file before the end of the school year. Your prompt attention is appreciated - thank you for helping us keep our records up to date!
