As we close out the final Friday afternoon of the school year, with students now dismissed and the hallways a little quieter, we want to take a moment to thank our students, families, staff, School Council, and volunteers for all the ways you have contributed to Capitol Hill School this year. It has been a year full of learning, growth, connection, special events, challenges, celebrations, and many memorable moments across our school community.
Whether your family is returning to Capitol Hill in the fall or moving on to a new school or new adventure, we wish you a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer. Thank you for being part of the CHS community and for your partnership throughout the year. We look forward to seeing many of you again in September!
Grade 6 Farewell
Congratulations to our Grade 6 students on a wonderful farewell celebration! It was a meaningful opportunity to recognize their growth, reflect on their time at Capitol Hill School, and celebrate the many ways they have contributed to our school community. This year’s Grade 6 students have left their mark in many ways, including through their legacy project supporting the future installation of a Gaga Ball Pit on our playground.
A sincere thank you to the Grade 6 teachers for their planning, care, and support in making the farewell a special event for students and families. We are also very grateful to the parent volunteers and committee members who helped organize many aspects of the celebration, including decorating, preparing cookies and treats, and adding so many thoughtful touches to the event. Thank you as well to the parents and family members who joined us to celebrate this important milestone. Most importantly, congratulations to our Grade 6 students. We are proud of you, we will miss you, and we wish you all the best as you begin your next adventure in Grade 7.
Sports & Activity Day Gratitude
Our CHS Sports & Activity Day was a wonderful celebration of teamwork, school spirit, community, and fun. This year’s theme, “Capitol Hill Classics: 75 Years of Fun,” connected the day to our school’s 75th anniversary and gave students the chance to enjoy a variety of classic Sports Day activities. It was great to see students participating with energy, encouraging one another, and enjoying time together as a school community.
A huge thank you goes to our parent volunteers, whose time and support helped make the morning run smoothly. Events like this depend on extra hands, and we truly appreciate everyone who helped with stations and supported our students throughout the day. Thank you as well to our students for their positive participation and school spirit, and a very special thank you to Mr. Evan Careclakis for spearheading the planning and organization of the event. It was a memorable way to celebrate movement, community, and 75 years of Capitol Hill School.
Thank You, CHS Community: Geodome Watering
A huge thank you to our CHS families for the incredible response to our summer Geodome watering sign-up. Thanks to the support of our school community, all watering shifts for July and August are currently full! This is such a meaningful contribution to our school. The Geodome is one of CHS’s most unique learning spaces, and the care provided over the summer will help keep the flowers, vegetables, and other plantings healthy until students return in the fall. We are also grateful to School Council for helping coordinate this important initiative and to all of the families who signed up to lend a hand.

Report Cards Available Online
Final report cards for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students became available online yesterday, Thursday, June 25, 2026, through MyCBE. Families can now view, download, or print report cards.
Report cards will remain available in MyCBE until July 31, 2026. After that date, they will no longer be available to access, so families are encouraged to save or print a copy before July 31 if they would like one for their records.
Back to School Information
As we prepare for the 2026–27 school year, we want to share some important start-up information with Capitol Hill families. Additional information will also be available on the Back-to-School page of our school website, which families are encouraged to check for updates.
Start-of-year office hours will be 9:00 AM–2:00 PM from August 26–28, 2026. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, August 31, from 8:15 AM–3:45 PM.
Please note that class placements and teacher assignments will not be finalized until the end of August. Families can expect to receive a welcome email from their child’s teacher on Friday, August 28, 2026. This email will include first-day procedures and important information to help students prepare for the first day of school.
The first day of classes for students in Grades 1–6 is Monday, August 31, 2026.
Kindergarten will begin with staggered entry on Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Kindergarten families should refer to the specific date they were provided, as children will attend on either August 31 or September 1, not both days. Please meet Mrs. Dreyer at the east entrance by the staff parking lot, near the playground, at the designated Kindergarten start and end times. Kindergarten will run daily from 8:43 AM–11:23 AM, Monday to Friday.
