Spring Concert Success – “A Night in the Jungle”

What a wild and wonderful time we had at our Spring Concert, “A Night in the Jungle”! The performances on Wednesday and Thursday evening were a lovely celebration of music, creativity, and community. It was heartwarming to see so many families, friends, and community members come out to support our student performers.

A huge thank you goes to Ms. Whitehead, our talented and dedicated music teacher, for all the time, effort, and passion she poured into bringing this show to life. Her love for music truly made the event shine.

We’re also grateful to our amazing CHS teachers, who stayed late to support their students backstage - it was a true team effort. And of course, congratulations to all our student performers, who stepped into the spotlight with courage, joy, and enthusiasm. You entertained us, impressed us, and made us proud!

Thank you again to everyone who helped make “A Night in the Jungle” such a memorable event!

CHS Gear Has Landed!

If you placed an order through our Spring 2025 merch store, good news — all items (except for Kindergarten AM) were handed out to students on Thursday afternoon! We hope your child came home excited to show off their new CHS swag. We can’t wait to see everyone rocking their gear around the school and out in the community. Thank you for supporting school spirit!

Yeehaw! Stampede Pancake Breakfast Coming to CHS!

Giddy up, Capitol Hill School - something mighty exciting is cookin’! We’re wranglin’ up our very first Stampede Pancake Breakfast on the mornin’ of Tuesday, June 3, our school’s Stampede Spirit Day, and y’all are invited!

With the help of the fine folks from the Calgary Stampede Downtown Attractions Committee—and a few of our own trusty CHS staff - there’ll be pancakes hot off the griddle and delicious halal turkey sausages sizzlin’ up for the whole school community to enjoy. That’s right - students, families, staff, grandparents, cousins, and friends - we want to see all your smiling faces bright and early!

The flapjacks and fixin’s will be flowin’ from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, just in time to fill your bellies before students head off to class (yep, it’s still a school day, partners!).

We reckon this will be the biggest, boldest kick-off to Stampede Spirit Day in CHS memory, so don’t miss out. Dust off those cowboy hats, pull on your plaid shirts, and stomp into school in your best boots if you’ve got ‘em - western gear is highly encouraged.

So saddle up and join us for a rootin’-tootin’ good time. We can’t wait to see y’all there. YAHOO!

Capitol Hill School Garden Clean-Up – Volunteers Needed!

Spring has sprung, and it’s time to give our school garden a fresh start! We’re inviting families to join us for the Capitol Hill School Garden Clean-Up on Saturday, May 31, from 9:00–11:00 AM.

We'll be tidying up the front of the school and the overgrown garden beds, making our outdoor spaces more welcoming for students and the community. No gardening experience is needed - just a willingness to help and maybe get a little dirt under your nails!

If you can spare an hour or two, we’d love to have you join us. It’s a great way to pitch in, connect with other families, and take pride in our school grounds. Sign up here: Garden Clean-Up Volunteer Link

Let’s dig in and make it beautiful together!

Final Call for Educational Transition Requests for 2025–26

As we start planning for next school year, our staff will soon begin the thoughtful process of creating balanced class groupings. We take into account many factors - including student input, learning needs, and social dynamics - to help set everyone up for success. Each year, we also invite families to share insights that might support their child's transition.

If there’s anything you’d like us to consider (such as learning needs, peer dynamics, or other helpful information), please complete the Educational Transition Request Form by Friday, May 23, 2025. While we can’t accommodate requests for specific teachers - teaching assignments may change, and all of our educators are incredible - we do appreciate your perspective.

You can find the form here: https://forms.office.com/r/PWDZgB21EK

Last Chance to RSVP for the Volunteer Tea

We are excited to invite you to our annual Volunteer Appreciation Tea on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the school gymnasium!

This is our chance to say a big THANK YOU to all the amazing volunteers who helped make this year so special. Whether you supported School Council or CHEES, helped organize school events like our Halloween Dance, lent a hand in classrooms, sorted and delivered Fun Lunches, supervised field trips or off-site activities like swimming, urban walks, the Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark, Sam Centre, or contributed to fundraising efforts like our Casino fundraiser (and so much more!) - we are truly grateful.

Whether you're a parent, guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or just a fantastic human who stepped up to volunteer this year, we hope you’ll join us for some tea, coffee, light fare, delicious treats, beautiful student artwork, and musical entertainment.

To help us plan, please RSVP by filling out this short form: https://forms.office.com/r/J9TWfLXTD4

(We kindly ask for responses by May 18, 2025.)

If you know someone who volunteered this year but may not be on the school's email list, please feel free to share this message and the RSVP link with them too!
