Thank You, School Council & CHEES
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for Wednesday night’s School Council and CHEES meeting - it was great to see so many new faces and have such thoughtful discussion and input. We really appreciate your time and support.
That was our final meeting for 2025. Our next School Council and CHEES meeting will be on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. We’re looking forward to connecting again in the new year!
Learning Conference Bookings Now Open
We are excited to welcome families to our first round of Learning Conferences on Thursday, November 27, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Friday, November 28, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The booking system will open on Friday, November 21, at 10:00 AM. Time slots are 15 minutes per student; however, families of students supported by an Individualized Program Plan (IPP) are encouraged to arrange a 30-minute time slot by reaching out to their child’s teacher.
To schedule a conference, log in to your MyCBE account at MyCBE. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one by following the instructions on the MyCBE PowerSchool Support page. Once logged in, access the "My School Conferences" section, choose an available time slot that works for you, and confirm your details. Further instructions and details can be found here: MyCBE Support – Book a Conference.
If you feel that a language interpreter would help facilitate your conversation with your child’s teacher, please reach out directly to the teacher to arrange this service. Interpretation services are available at no cost to families.
Frisbee Rob is Coming to CHS!
We’re excited to welcome Frisbee Rob (Rob McLeod) to Capitol Hill School next week, November 24-27, for a Frisbee-focused residency in PE. Rob is a world champion in the sport of flying disc and holds multiple Guinness World Records, including the longest throw to a dog and several self-caught flight records.
During the residency, Rob will be working with students across all grade levels to teach a variety of frisbee skills - everything from throwing techniques to fun and inclusive disc games. His sessions promote physical literacy, teamwork, and a growth mindset, while also encouraging students to try something new and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
A big thank you to our School Council for funding this experience and making it possible for all CHS students to take part. We’re grateful for their continued support in bringing meaningful and engaging learning opportunities to our school.
Scholastic Book Fair – Next Week in the IDC
The Scholastic Book Fair is back at Capitol Hill School next week! Ms. B, our library assistant, along with a group of awesome parent volunteers, has been busy setting up the fair in the IDC so it’s ready for students to browse starting Monday.
All classes will have a chance to visit the Book Fair during their regularly scheduled library time throughout the week. Students are welcome to bring money if they'd like to make a purchase during the school day.
The Book Fair will also be open during Learning Conferences on Thursday evening and Friday morning, if families prefer to shop together. It’s a great opportunity to build your home library and support the school at the same time!
Book Fair – Volunteers Needed!
If you have a little time to spare, we’d love your help with setup, sales, or clean-up. Even just an hour or two can make a big difference! The Book Fair is such a great way to support literacy at CHS, and all proceeds go directly back into books and resources for our school.

Winter Concert – December 10 at 6:00 PM
Mark your calendars! Our Winter Concert is happening on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00 PM, and it will feature performances from our talented Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. Ms. Whitehead has been working hard with the students, and they’re sounding fantastic - we can’t wait for you to see them shine when they perform.
Please note: This concert is for Division I students only. Division II students (Grades 4–6) will have their chance to perform in the Spring Concert later this school year.
More information about tickets and logistics will be sent home soon. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate the season with music and joy!
Mabel’s Labels - Keep Track of Winter Gear
Now that we’re into November and colder weather, the hats, gloves, boots, and coats are piling up - and so is our Lost & Found. It’s unbelievable how many items show up without names on them. If you're looking for an easy way to make sure your child’s belongings find their way back home, check out our Mabel’s Labels fundraiser. These labels are durable, waterproof, and perfect for all those winter layers. It’s a small step that makes a big difference for you, your child, and our Lost & Found bin.
When you purchase labels through our school’s unique page on the Mabel’s Labels website, CHS receives 20% of the proceeds. It’s a simple and effective way to support our programs - no inventory, no extra effort, just high-quality products that families already find useful.
To order, visit mabelslabels.ca, click “Support a Fundraiser” and search for Capitol Hill Elementary School (Calgary). Every label helps!
