Thank You for Successful Learning Conferences!
Thank you to all our parents, guardians, families, and community members for your incredible engagement during our learning conferences yesterday evening and today. It was wonderful to see so many families connecting with teachers, discussing student progress, and collaborating on meaningful learning goals. Your involvement plays a key role in supporting student success, and we’re so grateful for your time and dedication.
Beyond the fantastic conversations, families also had the opportunity to see our new 3D printer in action, and it caused quite a buzz! This innovative technology, funded by our School Council, is already inspiring creativity and curiosity among our students.
A special thank you to School Council for providing dinner for our hardworking teachers who stayed late and arrived early to meet with families. The delicious food, treats, and beverages were greatly appreciated and kept everyone fuelled throughout the long hours.
We’re so lucky to have such a supportive and engaged community working together to ensure the best for our students. Thank you again for making these learning conferences a success!

Capitol Hill School’s Progress, Goals, and Transparency
We’re proud to share three key documents that provide insight into our school’s progress, plans, and practices. These reports are now available on our website for your review:
1. School Improvement Results Report 2023-24
This report reflects on our achievements over the past school year. It highlights the areas we focused on, how we measured progress, and what we learned from the data. You’ll find celebrations of successes and identification of areas where we continue to grow. It’s our way of sharing the story of Capitol Hill’s journey toward excellence last year.
2. School Development Plan 2024-25
Looking ahead, this document outlines our roadmap for the current school year. It focuses on specific goals for improving student learning, well-being, and inclusion, guided by the priorities in our broader education plan. This plan reflects our commitment to ongoing improvement, with strategies informed by past results and community input.
3. Report to Parents on Fees 2023-24
Transparency is essential when it comes to school fees. This report provides a detailed overview of how fees were collected and spent last year. It ensures accountability and keeps you informed about how these resources supported student learning and activities.
Each document serves an important purpose in ensuring our school remains accountable, responsive, and committed to continuous improvement. We invite you to explore these resources and reach out with any questions or feedback.
Growing Awareness: A Movember to Remember
What an incredible Movember it has been! Thanks to your generosity, support, and a whole lot of moustache-growing dedication, we’ve raised an amazing $360 for this worthy cause. All of this by simply putting our facial hair to work for men’s health!
A special shout-out to the parents who joined in the fun and grew their own ‘staches – your enthusiasm and support were truly inspiring and deeply appreciated. To everyone who donated, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every single dollar has contributed to raising awareness and making a difference for issues affecting fathers, sons, brothers, and men everywhere.
It’s been a fantastic month filled with laughs, conversations, and community spirit. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year. Thank you for making Movember at Capitol Hill School such a success!

CHS Winter Celebration on December 13
The holiday season is here, and we’re thrilled to share the details of our annual Winter Celebration! This exciting event will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024, offering a day filled with connection, giving, and holiday cheer.
The Day’s Schedule
- 9:00 AM: Whole School Kick-off Assembly
We’ll begin with a celebration in the gym featuring presentations from each grade about their outreach projects, activities from our school’s Well-being Committee, and a performance by our talented Music Choir Ensemble. It’s the perfect way to set the tone for this special day of giving back! - Classroom Outreach Activities
Following the assembly, families are invited to visit their child’s classroom to join in on the meaningful outreach activities students are working on. Each grade is tackling a unique project to make a positive impact: - Kindergarten & Grade 1 – Stocking drive for seniors at the Kerby Centre
- Grade 2 – Making dog treats for Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation
- Grade 3 – Creating holiday greeting cards for various Calgary seniors’ centres
- Grade 4 – Crafting cards and friendship bracelets for Alberta Children’s Hospital
- Grade 5 – Writing cards for veterans; organizing and packing Veterans Food Bank of Alberta donations
- Grade 6 – Running a bottle drive to support a charity chosen through student research
- Hot Chocolate & Student Buskers
Throughout the morning, classes will take turns visiting the hallways to enjoy hot chocolate and listen to our talented student buskers perform. It’s a cozy way to end the celebration and enjoy the festive atmosphere!
Join Us!
Families are encouraged to drop in during the morning to experience the Winter Celebration alongside their children. Although classrooms may be asking for support from a few dedicated volunteers, there’s no need to sign up to stop in and attend - this open house-style event is a wonderful way to connect with the school community and see the incredible work our students are doing to support others this holiday season. Thank you for being part of this special day.
Kindergarten to Grade 4 Swimming Lessons in January – Forms Due Soon!
Kindergarten to Grade 4 students will be heading to Winston Churchill Pool for swimming lessons as part of our Physical Education & Wellness program! Lessons will take place from January 13 to 16, and instruction will be provided by qualified City of Calgary Swim Instructors.
