Thank You Casino Volunteers

The CHEES Casino Fundraiser at ACE Casino Airport wrapped up early this morning after two full days. We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave their time, including those who worked daytime, evening, and overnight shifts. Some volunteers registered weeks ago, while others answered our final calls and stepped in at the last minute. We needed every one of you to run the casino successfully.

A particularly heartfelt thank you goes to Nicole Dowling and Maja Frew, who worked together as our Casino Co-ordinators. Months of planning, paperwork, scheduling, volunteer recruitment, and problem-solving were behind those two days. As Maja passes the torch to Nicole, we also thank Maja for her many years of work with School Council and coordinating these fundraisers. We are incredibly grateful.

On behalf of our students and staff, School Council, and CHEES, thank you to all our volunteers for showing up!

Thank You Halloween Dance Volunteers

Last night's Halloween Dance brought CHS families together for costumes, music, dancing, pizza, and the photo booth. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it a welcoming and enjoyable evening for our school community. A special thank you goes to School Council and the many volunteers who planned the event and helped with setup, tickets, food and sales tables, supervision, and cleanup. Events like this take a great deal of work behind the scenes, and we appreciate everyone who contributed.

Halloween at CHS

Students and staff brought plenty of creativity and humour to school this morning. We saw many fun costumes while classrooms continued with their regular Friday learning. Thank you to families for helping students choose costumes that were comfortable, school appropriate, and easy to manage during the day.

Halloween is tomorrow, Saturday, October 31. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening. Please take extra care around traffic, use crosswalks, and ensure children have appropriate adult supervision while they are out in the community.

Yellow Steps Residency Wraps Up

After two weeks of outdoor and community-based learning, our Yellow Steps residency with Jenn Doeve concluded yesterday. Students explored the area around Capitol Hill with their teachers, made close observations, recorded their thinking in visual journals and notebooks, and considered how classroom learning connects with community and place.

The field sessions may be finished, but classes will continue revisiting their observations and building on what they discovered as they develop their demonstrations of learning. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped make the community outings possible, and to School Council and CHEES for funding this learning opportunity for our students.
