Mr. Eakins Away
In case you missed the original email, we wanted to remind you that Mr. Eakins will be away from February 18 to March 7, 2025, to travel to Australia for a family wedding. During this absence, Mr. Mike Scott will step in as Acting Principal. Mike is currently an administrator at William Aberhart High School and brings a wealth of experience to the role. He spent time at CHS last week, meeting staff, touring the school, and getting familiar with the routines and structures that make the school such a great place. As a fellow CBE parent, he understands the importance of a supportive and welcoming school environment.
The school will continue to run as usual, thanks to the dedication of the amazing staff. Ms. Tina Gratto, the administrative secretary, and Mr. Bart Kwiatkowski (Mr. K), the assistant principal, will ensure everything operates smoothly. If there are any questions or concerns during this time:
- Classroom-related questions: Please reach out to your child’s teacher.
- General school concerns: Tina or Bart are more than happy to assist.
- Principal-level support: Mike is available if needed, though he will be getting to know the school and students during this time.
If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. The support and understanding are greatly appreciated, and there is a look forward to seeing everyone upon return.

100 Days of School!
February 18th marks a special milestone in the academic calendar – the 100th day of school! This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm by students, teachers, and parents alike. Just seeing the amazing displays trickle into Capitol Hill reflects that excitement. I100 days of school is a great time to reflect on the progress made over the past 100 days and to look forward to the rest of the school year with renewed energy and excitement.
Can You Help Volunteer for Fun Lunch?
Our next Fun Lunch is on February 20, and we need your help to make it a success! Volunteers are essential for sorting and distributing pre-ordered lunches, ensuring every student receives their meal on time. If you can spare a short amount of time, we’d love your support—arrive at 10:45 AM to verify orders and help distribute lunches to classrooms by 11:20 AM. This is a great way to meet other parents, get involved in the school community, and make a meaningful contribution. Even if you can only help once, your time and effort are greatly appreciated! Reminder: Return Signed IPP Signature Pages to School
A reminder to families that Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) were sent home during the last week of January for students requiring additional support. We kindly ask that parents and guardians sign and date the "2nd Review" column on the final page of the document and return that page to the school as soon as possible. Families may keep the full IPP document for their records. If you have any questions or need further clarification regarding the IPP, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
